This Privacy Policy explains how OKBogey handles personal information when you use the OKBogey website, Android application and related services. For personal data that OKBogey determines how and why to process, OKBogey acts as the data controller. Privacy questions can be sent to support@okbogey.golf.

Information OKBogey processes

Depending on how you use OKBogey, the service may process:

• Account and profile information, including your email address, authentication identifiers, display name and profile preferences you choose to provide.
• Golf and app data, including course and tee selections, target scores, round scores, hole-by-hole results, favourites, handicap-related values, regular-round preferences and other information you save in the service.
• Subscription information, including Google Play purchase or subscription identifiers, subscription status, expiry information and account-binding identifiers needed to provide or restore OKBogey+ access.
• Usage analytics and crash diagnostics, if you choose to enable them in the Android app, including app screens and features used, coarse product events such as whether a round or plan was completed, app and device technical information, app version, Android version, crash stack traces and related diagnostic information. OKBogey does not send your scorecard or individual hole scores to Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics.
• Device, advertising and consent information where advertising is enabled, which may include device or advertising identifiers, IP address, app or browser information, approximate location derived from network information, ad interaction information and consent choices processed by Google or its advertising partners.
• Support and security information, including messages you send to support and limited technical information needed to diagnose faults, prevent misuse and protect accounts.

Sign-in and authentication

OKBogey supports email sign-in using a one-time code and may also offer Google Sign-In. Email addresses and authentication identifiers are processed so that you can create and access your account.

If you choose Google Sign-In, Google is used only to authenticate your OKBogey account. OKBogey may receive basic account information needed for sign-in, such as your email address and Google account identifier. OKBogey does not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Google Contacts or Google Calendar through Google Sign-In.

How and why information is used

OKBogey uses information to provide account access, calculate and save Target Par and personalised golf features, store and edit rounds, show round history and analysis, remember preferences, provide OKBogey+ features, administer subscriptions, respond to support requests, maintain security and operate the service.

Where UK data-protection law applies, the main lawful bases are:

• Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the OKBogey service, your account or paid features you request.
• Legitimate interests — for proportionate security, abuse prevention, troubleshooting and service improvement where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
• Consent — where consent is required for advertising personalisation, optional usage analytics and crash reporting, non-essential device storage or similar technologies. You can change or withdraw advertising consent through the advertising privacy choices made available in the Android app where applicable, and you can separately enable or disable usage analytics and crash reporting in the app's About screen.
• Legal obligation — where information must be kept or disclosed to comply with applicable law.

Analytics and crash reporting

The Android app can use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand feature usage and diagnose technical failures. These services are disabled by default in OKBogey and are enabled only after you choose to allow usage analytics and crash reports. You can change this choice later in the Android app's About screen.

When enabled, OKBogey may send product-usage events such as screen views, onboarding completion, course or tee selection without the course or tee name, plan calculation, round completion status, rating-prompt actions and similar feature interactions. Crashlytics may receive technical crash or non-fatal error information such as stack traces, app version, device and operating-system information and diagnostic breadcrumbs. OKBogey does not send your scorecard or individual hole scores to Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics.

Google may process technical identifiers and network information as part of providing Firebase services. OKBogey disables advertising-ID collection and ad-personalisation signals for its Firebase Analytics integration.

Advertising and consent

The free version of OKBogey may display advertising. The Android app uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Where required for users in the UK, EEA or other relevant regions, UMP presents privacy and consent choices before advertising is requested. Depending on your choices and the ad-serving mode available, Google and participating advertising partners may process device identifiers, IP address, app information, ad interactions and related data to deliver, measure, limit or personalise advertising.

OKBogey+ is intended to provide an ad-free experience while the account has an active qualifying entitlement. The OKBogey website may also use Google AdSense on ad-supported pages. Advertising providers may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies where permitted by your consent choices and applicable law.

Service providers

OKBogey relies on third parties to provide parts of the service. These currently include Supabase for authentication and application data storage; Google for Google Sign-In, Google Play Billing, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, AdMob/UMP and, where enabled, AdSense; and golf-course data services used to supply course, tee and hole information. Support email and hosting or infrastructure providers may also process limited information needed to deliver those services.

Some providers act as processors on OKBogey's behalf, while others may process information under their own privacy terms for services such as Google Play or advertising. Information is shared only where needed to provide these functions, protect the service, comply with law or with your consent.

International processing

Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, OKBogey relies on the safeguards used or provided by the relevant service provider, such as an applicable adequacy arrangement or approved contractual protections. You can contact support@okbogey.golf for more information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

Local storage, sessions and offline data

OKBogey may use browser storage, app storage, authentication session data, local databases and service-worker caching so that sign-in, offline or in-round functionality, preferences and reliable loading work correctly. Some of this data remains on your device until it is replaced, cleared, the app is uninstalled or the relevant account data is deleted.

Sharing and sale of data

OKBogey does not sell your personal information. Personal information may be shared with service providers and advertising partners as described above, where necessary to operate the service or where required by law. Advertising providers may independently use information in accordance with the consent choices available to you and their own privacy terms.

Data retention and deletion

Account and golf data is generally kept while your OKBogey account remains active and for as long as needed to provide the service. You can permanently delete your OKBogey account and associated app data from the account settings in the Android app or from the Delete Account page. Account deletion removes the active authentication account, profile, saved rounds and hole-by-hole round data, favourites, preferences, usage records and other account-linked app data that OKBogey controls, subject to the limited exceptions below.

If you have an OKBogey+ subscription through Google Play, deleting your OKBogey account does not itself cancel that Google Play subscription. You must manage or cancel the subscription through Google Play. After account deletion, OKBogey may retain a limited billing record containing Google Play purchase or subscription identifiers, subscription state and expiry information, and the previous obfuscated account binding where necessary to administer the subscription lifecycle, prevent misuse and allow an eligible purchase to be restored or linked to a new OKBogey account. This retained billing record is not kept as an active OKBogey profile, and the previous login email address is not retained in that record for purchase recovery.

Some limited information may also be retained where reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, backups, dispute handling, technical integrity or legal obligations. Such information is kept only for as long as the relevant purpose requires. Information held independently by Google Play, Google advertising services, Firebase services or other third parties is subject to their own retention and deletion rules.

If you cannot access your account, you can request deletion or ask a privacy question by contacting support@okbogey.golf.

Your privacy rights

If UK data-protection law applies to you, you may have rights to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and, in some circumstances, to object to processing. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests in appropriate circumstances. To exercise a privacy right, contact support@okbogey.golf. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Security

OKBogey uses reasonable technical and organisational measures, including third-party authentication and database services, to protect account information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as OKBogey develops or its providers and legal obligations change. The latest version and its update date will remain available at okbogey.golf/privacy.html.
